Take a Look Behind the Scenes of Andor Season 2

The Star Wars universe has expanded once again, and Andor Season 2 brings fans closer than ever to the origins of the Rebellion. In a new behind-the-scenes video, the creators and cast offer a glimpse into the ambitious scope and emotional weight of the season—one that not only builds on the legacy of Rogue One but also forges a deeper connection with the foundations of the Rebellion.

“The Empire Cannot Win.” Those striking words from Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) set the tone for a season that raises the stakes, deepens the characters, and broadens the galaxy. “This second season, we can take Andor to the next level,” Luna says, hinting at the scale and storytelling ambition that awaits.

Genevieve O’Reilly, who reprises her role as Mon Mothma, captures the gravity of the production: “This season feels momentous. The production values mirror that.” Indeed, every element—from location shooting to cultural world-building—reflects a heightened level of craftsmanship and detail.

One of the key highlights teased in the video is the exploration of iconic Star Wars locations like Yavin and Ghorman. “We’ve never learned how Yavin came to be what it was,” Luna says, referring to the Rebel base introduced in A New Hope.

Showrunner Tony Gilroy emphasizes that it’s not just about building sets—it’s about creating entire civilizations. Speaking about Ghorman, he explains, “It’s not just building the physical part of it, it’s building a culture. We designed an entire aesthetic and an entire language.”

To ground the galaxy in tangible authenticity, the Andor team filmed on location in Spain, particularly in Valencia. “The world has to feel real,” Luna notes, and the city’s modernist architecture lends itself perfectly to portraying the high society of Coruscant. Production designer Luke Hull adds, “The architecture offers something we can embrace as an upper-Coruscant look—what we’re calling a Senate plaza.”

The trailer ends with a stirring call from Mon Mothma: “We must stand together, or we will be crushed.” Her voice echoes over scenes of political rallies, galactic unrest, and militarized oppression—a reminder that Andor is, at its heart, a story about resistance, sacrifice, and hope.

With new worlds, richer histories, and higher stakes, Andor Season 2 is a vital chapter in Star Wars storytelling. For fans eager to understand how a scattered rebellion became a united front.

Andor Season 2 is now streaming, with new episodes Tuesdays, only on Disney+.
